I bought this mouse because I was getting a sore index finger and wrist. One great advantage this mouse has over other "ergonomic" mice is that you don't have to use your index finger at all, which gives a sore finger a chance to heal. My hand was definitely feeling better after a couple of weeks of using this mouse.
Unfortunately, that's all the time I had to use it before it broke. There's a design flaw in the button -- if you click on it hard, it will push right into the handle of the mouse. It's only supported by a very thin plastic socket. Worse, if this happens, you can't even rig a crude repair, as most of the mouse is constructed such that the only way to take it apart is to break it.
I wrote to several email addresses on animax's site requesting a replacement. It took a couple of weeks to get a response. I don't have a replacement yet but I'm still holding out hope. Apparently the American market for this mouse has just been bought by 3M, so hopefully there will be greater availability and support soon.
Because of the poor production quality I wouldn't buy one of these mice if there was anything similar on the market. Unfortunately, there isn't. If you really need your index finger to take a break and heal, this is the only good alternative I've found. If they'd improve the socket for the button, perhaps by making it out of steel, I'd have no reservations about recommending this mouse. In the mean time, be very careful with it if you do buy one.
