| Spoon's Full Review: Asus AGP-6800 |
A few months ago, I knew that I wanted a GeeForce, but I didn't know which one would be the best. So for about 2 weeks, I was on the net researching the card, and all the brands available. I read many articles on the 3D Prophet DDR, but evey card was out done by the ASUS V6600 SDR. So, I checked the bench-marks and saw something astonishing. The V6600 SDR did better than all of the DDR cards. I went to ASUS's web page, and saw that they were realeasing the V6800 DDR... This card was even faster then the V6600 SDR and DDR.
The card also comes with a whole slew of features, and software. It has an easy tweak utility (which I havn't needed yet), and something called "Smart Doctor". This program monitors the core temp of the GeeForce's GPU. When it gets too hot, it stops, and give a really loud/annoying BEEEEEEP!
What I really love are the VR-100 Glasses(in deluxe model only. The glasses make streo-scopic images allowing everything to jump right into your eyes. It may seem/sound corney, but i assure you, the glasses rock. It also has a TV tuner, camera inputs. etc etc... And comes with the full versions of DRAKKAN, and Rollcage, with about 14 other demos as well.
The setup is also a snap with this card... I have built 7-8 computers and this is the easiest card to install... The software runs itself off the CD, and you don't even need to click on anything.
The bottom line is that I'm running Quake3 Arena in 1600X1200 in 32bit color, with minimal (if ever) slowdown. There is nothing this card can't handle.
