| Villen's Full Review: Net2Phone |
You would think a company that has a 2 billion dollar valuation could create a product that works. I bought the Yap Phone from the company website (yapgear.com) that displays a whole line of new products that Net2Phone has created to capture the interenet phone market from of students. The product was $60.00+ with some minute card included. I was all excited when I opend the package, and I was sorely disappointed--let just say the plastic look and feel of the phone DOES NOT COMPARE to the website picture or description. Alas, my shocked subsided after about 60 seconds and I opened the software installation packet. I installed it on my laptop and the Yap phone would not work..so I installed it on my desktop! Still didn't work, then I went over to my little brother's computer....crashed the hard drive. I spent the next 15 hours re-writing a paper that was lost, and cursing at the plastic fallic symbol of doom sitting my desk. I called net2phone twice and sent them 2 e-mails, I have yet to recieve a response. But another bright spot, the installations on my two computers leave huge batches of files behind...hidden away -- erasing them one by one.
But I have to hand it to their marketing department, they already sent me a brochure of all the new Yap Products coming out in the market and how I will be the coolest person on the block if I bought one. Hey I think survivor is on!
PS-I still have not recieved my free net2phone headset yet and it has been about 11 weeks. --Does Net2Phone really exist? I returned my Yap Phone (Kept the calling card!)
