Good value, simple connection

Pros:value, simplicity
Cons:not compatible with all USB hubs

I already owned a SCSI scanner, but couldn't use it with the iMac without buying a USB-SCSI adapter. The 1236 USB was cheaper than the adapter and provides a cleaner setup. Installation was a snap particularly since no power supply is required.
My USB hub required the scanner to be plugged directly into the iMac. This is not a problem, but both the hub manufacturer and Artec claimed it should work plugged into the hub. This could be a problem if somebody already has two USB devices requiring direct iMac plugin.
If you want a plug-and-play scanner at a bargain price, it'll be hard to beat the Artec 1236 USB.
