We have a Compaq 5441 but bought the 17" monitor. We mainly bought it for use on the internet but my husband soon fell into the lure of online games such as Combat Flight Simulator.
Graphics were minimal and when Crimson Skies (a new online game) came out, our on-board graphics would not support it. We had heard good things about the Voodoo3 3000 and ordered it from Amazon.com at the great price of $89.95 and an extra $30 rebate. Not bad for a card that sells at $165.
However, when we tried to install it, we had problems. We followed the directions which came with it and it totally locked up our computer. We found out later that it was because our computer had on board video, not a standard video card. If you have a Compaq, I recommend that you go to 3dfx.com. Following the directions here, we managed to get back into cyberspace.
This graphics card has made a big difference in our daily use of the computer. Graphics are phenominally colorful and clear and take no time to load.
We were also able to install Crimson Skies with no problems at all.

Although we did have installation problems and our computer was down for two days, I do not regret buying this graphics card. It has made a big difference in effects and my husband can play his precious games without complaint.
