| jo.com's Full Review: Gator |
Revised 9/15/2000
I see there are a lot of epinions on Gator and most like it. I do too. It is a terrific idea - I wish I had thought of it.
So many times I have typed in my name, address, phone number, etc. wishing there were a way to avoid that. Here comes Gator, a terrific site.
The only problem is, that for me, it doesn't work consistently. I am sure those gliches will be worked out and I'm looking forward to that day. I get very disappointed when I click it on and either I can't drag my name, address, etc. to the places where they belong or it doesn't fully load.
For those of you who don't know yet what Gator is it is a pop up and an icon. The icon sits on your desktop and you can click it on if you want to drag the information into various spaces. For example, when you fill out Gator, you will fill out your name, address, phone number, e-mail address and if you want, which I didn't, credit card information.
If you go to a site that isn't a Gator site you can drag the various pieces of information onto the lines rather than typing them each time. If it is a Gator site you just click it and it will automatically fill in the information. One piece of information it is missing is your birthdate. They should add that because that is a question that is frequently asked.
The pop up also comes on at various sites telling you to log in your password and it will remember it. It does do that; however, it can be slow and there are many times that I have my password typed in before Gator even pops up and tells me it can help!
Gator has not only saved me a lot of time, but it has saved my fingers from doing a lot of work. I get a lot of free items and they request name, address, etc, over and over again. With Gator I can either drag the information rather than typing it or hope it is a Gator site. I think as time goes on more and more sites will be Gator sites eliminating even more typing.
I highly recommend your using Gator. It is easy, has rarely caused me problems and the few gliches are overshadowed by the positives.
2/27/02..are they still in business? I don't get any Gator popups!
