| justincorder's Full Review: Teac 524EA Internal 24x CD-ROM Drive |
I have owned this cd-rom for 3 years now. Have read several thousand cd's with it, and have had absolutely no problems AT ALL!! It reads excellent and is extremely quiet, Unlike my creative labs 48x which will shake your house's foundation.
I think that Teac has got to be one of the best companies out there for cd-roms. As well as CD-R and CD-RW's. They really take pride in there products, and performance goes with quality.
I had absolutely no problems installing it. PLUG AND PLAY. Windows loaded the drivers for it and the rest was history.
I know that people will think that since it only reads at 24x that it is not as fast , or fast enough. But that is incorrect. The computer that I have it in is a 233MMX with 128mb ram. And it can only take information as fast as the processor and HDD can take it. And for this system it will only take 22x. Ive ran several tests to verify this, so anything faster is overkill. But for my P3 800EB with LVD SCSI HDD's it will take my 48x SCSI cd-rom and more I am sure of that. But dont go and overkill on speed. And with speed comes shakes, rattles and rolls, and I am sure that the faster ones , are short lived compared to the slower ones. Dont quote me on that, but that is my personal opinion.
