Although this was pointed out by fellow Epinion reviewer stevelarrison I thought I would make an update. I used this product for some time and as far as I can tell, one ftp client is as good as another. CuteFTP does seem to have an easy to use interface for newbies, but the problem is with the Spyware that is embedded in it. What follows is part of my review of BuddyPhone 2, which is also infected.

The problem is that is uses "Spyware" by Aureate/Radiate. This could be the cause of one of the other reviewer's computer crashing when using it. I do think that paying the fee that removes the advertising will remove this Spyware. It has been shown that even deleting this or any Aureate-encoded product will not remove this PARASITE. What it does is take up YOUR bandwidth to send info to Aureate about your net surfing habits! There is, however, a solution!

There you can download a product called OptOut which will remove all known spyware from your system. When I first ran it, I was STUNNED! It found 23 instances of the spyware and OVER 50 total occurances in my registry, etc...

The OptOut website lists SEVERAL other programs which carry this type of Spyware. GetRight, CuteFTP and others are all knowingly infected and taking your resources away! I will be immediately posting this warning to those programs that I know about to Epinions.com

** as an added note, if removing Aureate Spyware interferes with the License Agreement of any of these programs, I would suggest you find another to replace it. I recommend WS_FTP. Also, there should be no way that it interferes because they didn't even tell you it was being installed in the first place! DOWN WITH SPYWARE!
