A few tips for people new to epinions

I've been a member of epinions for about 1 1/2 months doing a lot more reading than I have writing. A few things I have observed may help some of the newer people and perhaps a few of the more "seasoned" folks too.

The hardest thing to do if you have not posted anything on a public bulletin board before is to sit down and write your first article. But, do it now....sit down, bite the bullet (a pencil will do if you don't happen to have a bullet lying around...hey, you have a keyboard what do you need a pencil for?), and write that first epinion. You will be amazed at how easy this is after the first item is completed and posted.

The next hardest thing is not to get sucked into posting as many epinions as possible. DON'T, trust me on this one, I have reviewed thousands of epinions (I can't help myself, I'm addicted and so are you, or you wouldn't be reading this). The one glowing factor is that the articles that have been thought out and a little work put into them are the ones that get the hits (and the money). So, a little hard work once coupled with a little time will reward you much better in the future than many poor articles.

If someone rates one of your articles, rate one of theirs. My rule is that if I get a rating, I always try to to read at least one of that member's epinions. I read many more if they are written well and entertain me or give good advice (if they have quality). Also, if you clicked on someone as a non-member just surfing the site....try to remember them after you become a member and go back and rate their items.

Don't make the epinion too long...the server won't accept your epinion if you talk to much (like me). Most of all, enjoy yourself, there are some great authors here.
