| Naughtius's Full Review: ABS Performance PC System 3 |
Admittedly, I was considering to wait another week or so before posting this review so I could benchmark this machine a little more, but since everything's been so great from the get-go, I just *have* to write a review for my new favorite computer company, ABS.
Let's start off with the customer service to this point: Excellent! The ABS website is very well designed, and configuring the machine you want is a snap. You can use the recommended component list, or choose from many others from drop down lists embedded in the page. Groovy. So when I decided to purchase the Performance 3, I added a few extras: a faster processor (P3 733 from the 667 it comes with normally), a larger Optiquest monitor, the Plextor CD-R, and a larger tower case for the extra peripherals I have. Other than that, it has the generic choices, which include an nVIDIA graphics card, Sound Blaster Live! with an Altec Lansing stereo speaker system, and lots of other goodies.
After placing the order, I was contacted the next day by Damon, my corporate representative. He made sure my order was correct and gave me approximate shipping dates and a confirmation number. When the machine was completed and shipped, Damon sent me FedEx tracking numbers so I could see the shipment. All in all it was about 10 business days from order to reception, with lots of info in between. A very satisfying experience. Hats off to you, Damon.
As far as setup goes, everything was fantastic. The box comes with a picture instruction list that explains where everything goes, as well as a large binder with drivers, recovery disks, and everything you'll need to keep the machine running like new. Everything worked flawlessly from the beginning, from detection of new peripherals to running new software. It's perfect.
Flaws? None so far. I will be sure to update as I go, but for now it does everything from Word to Unreal Tournament like a champ! If you're looking at a rather inexpensive top end machine, go with ABS. Quality from the machine goes all the way back to the business.
