I've been using CuteFTP for several years now and it's by far my favorite FTP program. I've tried several others and none have the ease of use and functionality that I find in CuteFTP.
It's small, fast and I can't remember it ever crashing or locking up on me in any way (that's one thing I've had happen with several other programs I've tried). The things I like about it most are:
1) Easy Backup - As often as I find myself needing to backup my system completely to reinstall Windows, it's always a big plus for a program to be "self contained". Meaning it doesn't have shared dll files all over the system. CuteFTP fits the bill here for sure! All you have to do is make a copy of your CuteFTP directory and then copy it back over to the newly installed system and make a shortcut for it and you're back up and running with no lost information or files.
2) FTP Site Manager - I really love this, I have at least two dozen FTP accounts on various sites and servers that I run here and also I need quick access to lots of public FTP sites (FreeBSD, Ascend, etc) to download needed update files to programs I use. The Site Manager is a very simple solution to this. I just add the site to the manager and I can even put the starting directory I want to be put in locally and on the server so I don't have to dig around to find what I'm looking for. I even have the several dozen sites I use often split up into categories/folders so I don't have a hard time finding the right one! Very cool :)
3) Change File Permissions - This is a handy feature. Sometimes I find myself connected a one of my servers via FTP and find that I need to change a files permission. Instead of then having to telnet into the server to do this, most of the time I can do it right though CuteFTP. If you use CGI scripts on your website a lot, CuteFTP is a big time saver because you can do all your chmod 755's right there without having to also telnet into the server.
CuteFTP is just a great all around FTP program! If you use FTP a lot and haven't tried it, it's definitely worth a demo.
