McAfee use to be my anti-virus of choice till the now infamous CIH virus came to head. It lost this status for 2 reasons first it would not detect it, then when they did patch it you had to use 2 programs to clean it.
As a computer tech dealing with a lot of virii and trying to keep data intact it is imperative that I not have to worry about missing a virus. Which I why I chose to start looking at other anti virus programs. well now I am starting to come back to McAfee. The before mentioned problem has been taken care of and I am seeing similar problems with the anti-virus program I chose and not with McAfee now. its a dog eat dog world in the anti-virus field so you always have to stay on top be the easiest to use and most up to date. As of late I say McAfee fits the bill.
McAfee has several things going for it one its comparably priced, two its easy to install (i.e., yes i want to install McAfee yes i want to make a recovery disk yes I want to update now), and three its readily available.
McAfee also has excellent tech support and a well deigned web page. and this can be very important in anti-virus removal. Example is lets say you have received the message you have the abc123 virus but you can not clean it. so you go to there website look up the virus in the encyclopedia and see that its causes random letters to be replaced by numbers through the system. they say that the clean will be released in the next update but follow this procedure to clean it now and voila a very easy to follow step by step page appears which you can print out. This helped me and a number of customers deal with KAK virus came about.
