ACDsee has been around for a while now. I remember using the first version of the application back when it offered little more than a efficient viewer. Now the application comes in over four flavors including: SR-1 ($49.95), 3.1 Suite ($69.95), 3.1 Powerpack (79.95), and 3.1 Powerpack Suite ($99.95).
ACDsee supports over 40 different graphic formats including the more common GIF, BMP, TIFF, JPEG, MPEG, LDF, LWF, TTF as well as many multimeda files such as AVI, MOV.
ACDsee has always made it simple to naviagate through folders of photos with their Thumbnail cataloging which will display thumbnail (miniture photos) of all the graphics in a selected directory.
ACDsee has many enhancement and correction tools like red-eye reduction, brightness, contrast, hue, saturation, negative, crop, blur, sharpen, emboss, and image rotation. Best of all you can select multiple files to be enhanced or corrected at the same time.
Like Photoshop you can download and purchase additional plugins to increase your already powerful application.
The only con with ACDsee is the price. There are literally dozens of other Graphics viewers out there like (IfranView) that will do what most people need a graphics viewer to do. Do not purchase ACDsee if you are expecting a graphics editior though, because there are other packages such as Paintshop and Gimp that will do a much better job.
So you may be asking why would anyone purchase ACDsee then? Because it does have a good list of extra features such as the enhancment and corrections tools that will aide some individuals. As well as the super thumbnail catalog that it creates. As well as some poeople just like paying for what they get.
