THE 3DFX VOODOO CAN GET THE JOB DONE WITH ROOM TO SPARE

Written: Jan 07 '01 (Updated Jan 07 '01)
Pros:good support/great menus/great graphics
Cons:3dfx bought out who will pick up tech support

If you are looking for a pretty good video card without having to spend a lot of money, your search has ended. This video card retails for about 100.00 and is well worth it. I have used this video card for almost a year now and have not had a single problem with it. The card made it through any game that I played with the greatest of ease. The user menus are easy to understand and manipulate. This card also has an over clocking feature which is handy.

Other features include: Digital video port, voodoo3 chip with 350mhz ramdac, tv/s-video connector, 16mb sdram, agp bus connector, patented single pass single cycle multi texturing, dual 32 bit texture rendering pipeline, alpha blending, single pass single cycle bump mapping, single pass single cycle trilinear mip-mapping, gourad shading, programmable fog tables, sub pixel and sub texel correction, dvd hardware assist, and a 128 bit 2d accelerator.

The technical support at 3dfx was pretty decent too. They told me where I could go to get a good benchmark for my system's video. I wasn't on hold for extended amounts of time. Whenever I wanted to I could always go to 3dfx's website and download an updated driver.

The only thing that I would be leary of is the fact that 3dfx was bought out by nvidia. Who knows what this could mean for technical support or future drivers for the voodoo cards.

Here are some of the test results that my voodoo card received.
