Dell Computers are simply the best computers available. They do cost more than say, a Compaq or an Emachine, but the difference in price is definitely a reflection of quality.
I worked for a Domino's Pizza franchise office for a year, as a computer support technician. Lucky for me, the entire company's computer line were all Dell machines, which made my job very easy.
Dell Computer are easy to work on
One thing I love about Dell is the way they design their computers. If you need to inspect a part, or replace something, there aren't a bunch of little cheap screws that you have to fight with. Most Dell systems SNAP TOGETHER. To remove the case, you simple hold down a tab and lift it up! Also, the CD and Disk drives are snapped in, which makes them so very simple to swap out or remove. If you've ever had to work on a computer, or a bunch of computers for any extended period of time, you will know how wonderful this feature is.
Dell has the best support
On numerous occasions I would have to call Dell to have a part replaced. Most times it was the CD drive, as they get abused a good bit in those stores. On every occasion, they would overnight me the new part and include a return slip, so all I had to do was apply it and send it back.
Also, Dell does not load down their computers with a bunch of junk software that you will never use. A lot of computer companies include 'bundled' software which is mostly multimedia CD-ROM's that are entertaining for about an hour, then basically useless. Packard Bell is pretty bad about this, so don't be fooled into thinking it's a better deal because it comes with more hardware. When you buy a computer, you are paying for the hardware, and of course Windows.
Dell is a quality product, and therefore it costs a little bit more than other systems. If you have the means, I highly recommend them. Trust me, if you go for a cheaper computer, you are going to get what you pay for.
