| wph88's Full Review: Intel SE440BX-2 |
I've been building computers for myself, my office and my friends for a few years now. My favorite brand of motherboard has always been Tyan. A vendor suggested that I should try the Intel SE440BX and BX-2 series, and I did. I am running a Pentium III 700E Coppermine chip on it with 384 MB of RAMs. It is surprisingly easy to install and configure, you basically plug in the microprocessor, the RAMS and your favorite peripheral cards and you're done. It seems to be quite reliable too, since I keep all the computers running 24hrs a day. The motherboard's size in quite small and can be fitted into a mini-tower, but I recommend a full tower almost all the time.
I am also running a AMD Athlon 700 on an Asus board, and the Intel/Intel combination seems to be faster. Especially when I'm using applications such as Adobe Photoshop and Premiere. The Athlon ran the game " The SIMS" just a tad faster than the Intel.
This is a great board for first time computer builders.
