| LockeCole's Full Review: Final Fantasy VIII for PlayStation 1 |
I remember counting down the days to the release of this game. Of course, I was there at the store at 6 in the morning to make sure I got a copy the first day. 4 months later, I'm still trying to find something wrong with this game. I simply can't.
The graphics are AMAZING, the best I've ever seen on the playstation. The first time I used the "Eden" GF is something I won't soon forget. Every other playstation game I've ever seen, you could tell when it was going to what I've always called a "cut scene." In FF8, sometimes it took a few minutes before you realized you were only a bystander. Sometimes, the background was like that, while you controlled your character in it! It was BREATHTAKING.
Another plus to this game is definitely the sound. The music is absolutely unbelievable. "Fithos Lusec Wecos Vinosec" is probably the best game music you'll ever hear. Sometimes, I'd just turn the volume up and do whatever I needed to do around the house I liked the music so much.
Ahh, but what about the storyline? Graphics/sound are nice, but what DRIVES an RPG is the story. One word is all that is needed: SUPERB.
Oh..and another thing. FF 7? Compared to this? Not even close. FF 8 by FAR.
