I'm reviewing this as a way for someone who doesn't know HTML to make a fun website in a short time, and comparing it to other similar programs. EditThisPage and Manilla are supposed to be good for intermediate and more experienced users too, but I can't comment on that.
When you sign up, they tell you that you will be editing your own homepage in minutes, and this is strictly true. They make you up a starter homepage which is titled 'It Works' and talks about EditThisPage and has a few links. You can edit the text immediately, adding or deleting, but at this point all you can make is an all text home page, without any control over color or format.
One of the links on 'your' page is advice for new users. Here you learn how to use the menu to create multiple text documents 'stories' linked together, how to upload pictures, and how to add links. You still don't learn how to change the color of your text, or size or style. If you fool with the menu bar you'll find the preferences menu where you can do this, but it's not immediately clear how to use more than one color or style of text on the page.
I gather it's not too difficult to use this program to make a calender web page, a sort of web journal with a new page every day. Other than that, this isn't the best way to make a fun home page without HTML, homestead.com is both easier and offers more options to the newcomer. It does offer an online editor and store your site and act as your server, as does homestead.com.
This probably has more to offer someone who is willing to spend more time learning it, has a specialized purpose in mind, or knows HTML, but I can't review it on that basis. My rating only applies to someone who wants to make a good homepage without taking the time to learn HTML.
