No Waiting!!!Mar 03 '00 Write an essay on this topic.I have been using a cable modem for a couple of weeks now through Sigecom in Indiana. I spend a considerable amount of time online and absolutely love not having to dial up. Just sit down and go. The speed at which pages load is such an awesome improvement over the 56k that I was using. There is hardly any problem with pages that have a ton of graphics or animation. They run super smooth. The cost is a bit more but if you are on the internet much it is well worth it. I run several pay to surf bars whenever I am online and I used to have trouble with the speed at which everything would load, and sometimes would completely lock up my computer. Since switching to a cable modem I rarely have any problems at all. But the best part for me is the download speed. I download stuff often, mainly game demos or windows applications and used to tie the computer up for several hours on a single download of multiple megs in size. Now what used to take an hour or two can be done much quicker, usually less than a minute. Before I had this modem I would sometimes turn away from downloading something if it was too large because it would take too long. Now the only thing I have to worry about is if I have enough hard drive space for it. If you have been thinking about switching to a cable modem and are not bothered with spending a little more per month you should definitely go for it. You won't regret it.  |
