That price is wrong. I bought the 9200i scsi for 295, not 399. I bought it to replace my philips 2x/4x/8x. The 9200i is fast at the speeds of 8x,4x,32x. A full cd takes under 10 minutes to burn, 4 times faster than my older unit. I did have to buy a scsi controller, so if you your system is not scsi, you will need a controller. So far so good, great piece of hardware, price is not too bad and its scsi.
The bad, comes with easy cd creator 3.5, not 4.0 although this unit was just released. The software is bundled up with an HP installer, gives a few errors during install but installs either way, on my system anyway. Does not come with a scsi cable, which I think it should, at least a 1 or 2 device cable, not asking for 16 device cable.
Customer service is bad, I don't like HP's customer service. They're open a certain amount of hours, after your unit is out of warranty (1 year), you must pay for technical support. That is all bad service, and lots of waiting on hold to speak to someone.
Now some good, the 9200i comes with Corel Print Office, Neato - Cd Labeler & Filing Central and Broderbund Print Shop Multimedia Organizer. Just a bunch of extra software. Also comes with about 5 sheets of cd label, and jewel case sheets to print on. And finally it has one of the cd stompers, to stick the labels on the cds. Oh and of course 1 cdr and 1 cdrw.
Over all the package is good, the missing scsi cable makes it not great. The unit itself is great, HP customer service is not good.
Thanks.
