Pros:Um, easy to move around? Looks nice for a while...
Cons:Wears out incredibly quickly, doesn't stay in place, begins to curl after a while, adds unnecessary resistance to mouse while moving it
While rating my review, please keep in mind that it is incredibly difficult to write a lengthy piece on a mousepad :) Enjoy the review--I hope it is sufficient warning and will force you to steer clear of this product!
The 3M pad, unlike other high end mousepads (made by Everglide), is made out of a very thin, flexible plastic. One benefit of this is that the mousepad lies more or less flush with the surface that it rests on. The surface is made out of a patterned bumpy surface, and makes a noise similar to if you were scratching the side of a vinyl record (if that helps describe it any...).
Despite the fact that this mousepad looks cool, its disadvantages far outweigh its advantages, making it a poor choice for practically anyone. For one thing, the mouse pad is extremely small compared to all others in this roundup. This makes it bad for gaming, graphics design, and general computer usage. Another incredibly annoying "feature" of this mouse is that it never stays in one place! The underside of the mouse is made out of a thin rubber material, which is a little effective at first. However, in the long run it fails to keep the mousepad in place for a few reasons. First, unlike standard foam mousepads, this pad has no weight pushing it down and forcing it to stay in one place. This fact, coupled with its attraction to dust makes the rubber underside a dusty abyss after a few weeks of use.
Another huge disadvantage to this mouse is that the surface is far inferior compared to a hard plastic surface (such as those in Everglide mousepads). Speaking specifically from a gamer's perspective, the mousepad adds unneeded resistance when moving your mouse around. You'd think that this would improve accuracy, but in reality it does just the opposite (don't ask me how 3M managed that).
Since the mousepad is so thin, it also goes bad easily. If you fold the mousepad by accident, it will create a dead spot in the surface, and adds an ugly white line to the mousepad. If you move your pad around a lot, this product error would definitely impact you. Additionally, the mousepad naturally curls after a while. This is annoying, and adds to its inability to stay in place properly.
After using this mousepad for a few months, I found it almost completely unusable. 3M suggests using their special adhesive material to glue their surface onto another mousepad to use. I feel its a little irrisponsible of 3M to sell customers products and then expect them to buy more products to maintain a simple mousepad with. My personal opinion is that all gamers are better off choosing Everglide surfaces, and not the 3M "Precision" Mousing Surface.
