| kirkcor's Full Review: NEC Ready Notebook 340LT |
I originally purchased the 340T because of its speed (300mhz). I chose this over a similarly priced Think Pad, and I have regretted it ever since. The plastic casing is not at all durable, the track pad is horrendous, and the support from NEC has been abysmal.
The position of the track pad makes typing difficult, as even the slightest tap causes it to select blocks of text (and you know when you select a block of text and hit a key you are erasing and typing over it).
The 340T does accommodate up 128mb of ram. That combined with the 300mhz processor makes it more than adequate to handle any type of software or multi-media. The CD Rom operates efficiently, and the screen is clear and sharp. Functionally it would appear to have all the right components, they just don't come together very well.
For the price, there are much better assembled products, much better service and support, and basically much better options.
