Overall
What does this translate to?
This translates to superb game play and great resolution and color definition.
I don’t play many games but the games I have played have run smoothly and beautifully when I added this card to my system.
Now one thing you need to know is adding a better video card to your system may improve your system a lot or very little depending on what hardware you have already. For the best graphics possible than you need to have a good monitor, lots of RAM (at least 64-128 megs), and a decent processor speed (300-400mhz).
If you don’t have a decent monitor than a great video card won’t help you that much. If you do have the RAM or your processor speed isn’t that fast then you won’t have the speed to back up your new card.
So please don’t go into a store expecting to turn your PC into a game machine just by adding a card.
The reason I bring up “gaming” so much is because this card is mainly a gamer’s delight. Don’t get me wrong it does office work great as well but not as well as some other cards on the market that are actually cheaper.
There are other cards on the market like the GeForce, ATI Rage Fury which offer double the RAM (32 or even 64 instead of Voodoo’s 16), but the cards are actually slower than the voodoo card. They have slower Framerates and a slower Randac. So don’t be fooled by more RAM.
Price
The card is priced pretty reasonably at around $120-150.00 (although I have seen it cheaper in some places and even some with rebates.
And now with the Voodoo 5 out the prices on the Voodoo 3 should drop dramatically.
If you are a gamer who suffers from stuttering games or games that barely run. Then check out this card it could solve a lot of you problems and have you blowing away the bad guys in no time.
