Inferior to eBay

I agree with Allison024. Yahoo Auctions is good, but it can't compete with eBay!
eBay is much better than Yahoo Auctions because it has a better selection. eBay is enormous! There is so much to find there. Yahoo, on the other hand, is barely the tip of the iceberg of what eBay is. Right now, eBay has 2.5 million items offered for sale. Yahoo, unfortunately, doesn't list the total number of items offered but I calculated it to be 1.3 million.
I can usually find what I'm looking for on eBay, no matter how rare or unusual. On Yahoo, I'm a lot less successful, just because it's so much smaller.
The sellers on buyers on eBay can be trusted more than those on Yahoo. With eBay, I feel confident knowing that all transactions are insured by Lloyd's of London. Also, the big sellers on eBay have long histories of positive feedback ratings so I know they can be trusted. With Yahoo, usually the sellers or buyers have a lot fewer credits to their name.
One time, I bid on an item on Yahoo, and I ended up being the winning bidder. I waited for the seller to contact me (as is customary), then after 3 days I contacted him, asking what happened. His reply to me was "Oh, I'm sorry. I'm so used to having bidders back down that I was surprised when a good bid came through."
The search engine on Yahoo is also inferior to eBay's. I usually come up with fewer relevant hits on yahoo than I do using eBay.
The good things about Yahoo are that if you're a buyer, you can usually find a better price because there are fewer competing bidders. The converse is true if you're a seller, however.
Don't get me wrong. Yahoo is good. I've had nothing but good experience with both Yahoo and eBay. But eBay is the king while Yahoo is still a pawn.
I still use both eBay and Yahoo. I'll start on searching on eBay, and if I can't find something (rare) or if I don't find a good price, I'll go looking on Yahoo.
