| JAY.POLAND's Full Review: Micron Millenia Ultimate Performance |
My new Micron is a nice machine, but the lack of quality control and the limited customer service would make me unlikely to recommend a Micron to a friend. The day that the machine first arrived I found my first problem and called customer support. When I pressed the suspend key on the keyboard or clicked on START and then SUSPEND, the machine would suspend, but there was no way to revive it without a hard power off and on. Customer support blamed “a known problem with the keyboard” (the default keyboard for that model) and shipped me a new keyboard. After plugging in the new keyboard, the SUSPEND function of the machine was disabled. Customer support blamed the Multifunction keyboard software and had me download and reinstall the same version of the software that came with the machine. Not surprisingly, no positive result. This went on and on for 30 days; at which time Customer Support told me this was no longer a warranty item, and I could pay for further software support.
So, I reprogrammed my “suspend” key to start my screen saver and gave up.
Since I purchased this high-end machine in the default configuration, it was clear that Micron did not even test the default configuration before shipping. I will subtract one star for that.
Since Customer Support ran me around in circles for 30 days and then told me that I would need to pay for further support on a problem that came with the machine, I will subtract one start for that.
The rest of the machine works quite nicely. I’m using it now. I wish I would have waited for the price on the 500MHZ to drop, but that’s not Micron’s fault. So, I give the product three stars.
Cheers!
