Mad Crazy Graphics For A Low Price

Written: Dec 09 '00
Pros:Fast RAMDAC and RAM, 16 MB, PCI bus, High resolutions, High refresh rate
Cons:no cons

I bought an E-Machine E-Tower 500ix and it had one of the worst graphics cards I have ever used. I checked around, looking at all possible graphics cards, and I found that the 3dfx Voodoo 3 3000 was the best card for the money. I went to the Best Buy and paid $89 for this card and it even had an additional $30 rebate! I was amazed at how easy this card was to install. It had on screen instructions and a booklet with all the same illustrations. The card was up and running in minutes! I then tested the card with some games that require a high powered graphics card and this card performs well. In Unreal Tournament, I now run at 800x600 with and option to run at 1024x768 with all the textures on high, where my old ATI Rage Pro Turbo could only run at 512x384 with all the textures on low. I also run Need For Speed- Porsche Unleased at 800x600 with all the textures at very high and it most likely runs at 35 frames per second. The graphics are incredibly smooth and this card outperforms a 32 Megabyte NVIDIA TNT 2 M64. It's the fast memory and 350mhz RAMDAC that give this card the power to provide high resolutions and a fast refresh rate. If you are looking for a PCI or AGP chip and have under $100 to spend, don't look to a NVIDIA TNT 2 M64 just because it says 32 MB on the box, instead, reach for the box that is marked 3dfx Voodoo 3 3000.
