Would you like a faster internet connection with no increase in cost? Kindof a silly question isn't it? Well, here's a utility that runs in the system tray and does exactly that- AddSubtract. It's not a fancy modem and internet connection tuner like most of the software that claims to give you a faster connection, but a filtering program that works in a way that you can easily understand. Putting it simply AddSubtract intercepts the codes in the web pages you view and stops adds from downloading and being displayed on your screen. It also has cookie blocking capabilities as well to help improve your on-line privacy (if there is such a thing) too. It's transparent, requires no intervention once set-up (the set-up is easy), and dramatically increases the speed that web pages load at. Of course, if you don't go to sites with ad's then you won't get any performance increase, but if you don't think you see many adds try it and set the optional sound settings to play every time it kills an add- you will be shocked! This one really does work as advertised and you will notice an immediate improvement.
But wait- that's not all, if your order before midnight tonight you also get the free six piece screwdriver set... Well, maybe not! But you will get another big benefit that I didn't thing about/notice until after I started using AddSubtract- A Clean Screen! Something we don't think about is how much flashing banners and animated sales pitches detract from the asthetic value of a web page- that is until you see your favorite pages without all of the distractors. Just the difference in viewability is enough to use AddSubtract- Reduced eyestrain, increased readability, and just being able to cruise the web stress free (as in you don't have to weed out the garbage- like the difference between reading a good book and watching TV with it's 17+ minutes an hour of commercials).
As far as disadvantages go- well, it's another icon in the system tray, and it may not be compatible with Netsonic (I can't say for sure, I had AddSubtract and tried to run netsonic but got lock-ups, maybe between the two utilities or possibly something else- I didn't spend a lot of time troubleshooting as I am so pleased with AddSubtract that I just kicked Netsonic to the curb).
So give it a try, Faster web surfing, increased content quality, good price (Free!)
