A few years ago when I started my web site, the cute ftp program was reccomended to me as a way to get the new pages onto the site easily and quickly. I downloaded the trail version and installed it.
It took me only a few hours to learn the basic things needed to use the program to connect to my web site's ftp server. I found the connection wizard to be a great tool that allowed me to place the ftp information, log in and passwords for all the sites I had access to and was working on. Thus, I only had to select that site's name from the list and hit connect. This made it so much easier to upload pages onto the sites I was helping my friends create.
With the utilities available in the newer versions of cute ftp, I have been able to manage my web sites (two of them, and they are constantly growing) easily. Creating new directories, deleting ones that are no longer needed, adding or removing html documents, pictures and other file types became alot easier than going through my web site's host's "control panel" The dual screen that allows me to see the directories and their contents on both my server and my hard drive, with the drag drop capability for uploading and downloading (plus queeing for doing many files at once) makes locating the files I need to move alot easier.
I have found this program to be very easy to use. That is a major plus since I am not all that program savvy. I haven't really encountered any drawbacks to the program yet. I would reccomend this as a good ftp utility for those who are looking for something that is easy to use for that purpose.
