Cust Service Reps Flat Out Lie!

From the very beginning my experience with Gateway has been a nightmare! First, they left a number off of my address on the shipping label but luckily my neighborhood UPS guy knew that address didn't exist. Then, instead of receiving my computer all at once, I received a printer on Friday, a scanner on Monday and the rest of the boxes on Tuesday.
Of course, I was missing the speakers, mouse and backup software. When I called the customer service dept. that night, I spoke to a guy who spent 45 minutes going through what was missing and was told he would send it out via Fed Ex 2 day air - the fastest shipping method they were allowed to use. I called the next day to confirm this shipment and was told by a supervisor that they had no entry under my account for any call about a problem. He then promised to send the missing items via Fed Ex priority overnight. Problem solved right? Wrong!
After dealing with Gateway's professional customer service liars more than once, I called again the following day after I didn't get the promised items. The supervisor told me that the items weren't in stock but that they would definitely ship it out overnight WHEN THEY WERE IN STOCK. Estimated ship date? 8 days later! UPS would have only been 3 days! This obvious misleading statement about overnight shipping prompted me to speak to a manager who told me the same thing but that he would be able to send the mouse overnight (yes, really overnight) because that was in stock. Let's see if I actually do get this tomorrow. Luckily, I was not in desperate need of a computer. Instead of stressing, I just called my credit card company and told them I was disputing the charge and would not pay until I had a working computer.
I would never purchase another Gateway system and I shudder to think of what will happen when I have to use their tech support line (especially since I paid for a 3 year contract)! I'm hoping the quality is better in this department.
