| goddess_30's Full Review: Napster |
Unfortunately, I never downloaded Napster until all the controversy started. Big mistake on my part because I live on Napster now. I've tried just about every free mp3 file sharing program on the net and on just about every one I've always had problems downloading songs, mostly because the files were all inactive or had broken links. With Napster I've been able to download every song that comes to mind and someone always seems to have it, no matter what it is.
I spend hours a day downloading songs and only rarely do I ever run across problems. Actually I've only ran into two problems and those are pretty minor compared to the positive aspects of the site.
Problem #1. Sometimes when my download is almost complete, I get a window that pops up telling me that there was an error and the download is incomplete. Not a big deal because usually there are hundreds of other people with the same song so I just have to download it again but it is a pain in the butt.
Problem #2. This one is a little bit more annoying but still not too major, sometimes Napster will freeze up on me and not let me access any of my files and I have to exit the program and restart it. So far though, I haven't lost any files from this and it only happens rarely.
Even if I ran into those problems every day I still would always use Napster. To be able to download that song you heard on the radio yesterday, or hear some tracks on that new cd before you decide to buy it
is perfect for people on tight budgets that can't afford to spend money on cd's that they aren't even sure they will listen to again. (like me!)
What is even better is being able to listen to what you want, when you want, when you are online. I spend a lot of time online each day and probably wouldn't if I didn't have my favorite tunes to jam to while I surfed.
As we all know, The history of file-sharing on the net is in question. Don't these people have enough money already to start worrying about lost royalties? As for newer bands, it gives them more exposure than any bands before them have ever had. Seems to me like Napster is a good thing.
I urged anyone who hasn't downloaded Napster to do so, try it, I'm sure you will be impressed. By downloading it you can also help let people know that you are behind Napster and that you support it.
