| michaelw's Full Review: ABS Supreme DVD System 1 |
How do they cram so much performance into the box for such a low price? That is the question you will be asking yourself.
Lets see - 256 megs SDRAM, 20 gig HD w/DMA 66, Matrox 32 meg TNT2 video card (AGP of course), 250 meg zip drive, digital internet color camera, 19" .26 dpi monitor, Soundblaster Live sound card, Altec Lansing speakers with subwoofer, 6 speed DVD, 56.6 modem, Pentium III at 600 Mhz, keyboard, mouse, win98 SE and additional software. The system is GREAT. All this for $2400.00 which included shipping. Gateway and Dell were over $500 more expensive and usually didn't include at least one of the above mentioned features. Dell didn't have the zip drive or the camera (they did but they tacked on an extra $150 to the already inflated price of $2900.00). Gateway had a smaller monitor, no camera, and cheaper speakers; to bring it up to the ABS computer was a total price of over $3300.00
The performance is nothing short of amazing. This puppy SAILS through everything and anything. Extracting zip files takes moments. Installing programs from CD's - on my old Pentium 2 machine it took maybe 3 minutes, on this machine its less than 1 minute.
I LOVE this machine and you will too.
