Quick Dot.......Not So Hot

Written: Apr 04 '00
Pros:Allows you to relay the same message to numerous people
Cons:Small windows make for difficult reading, messages get deleted automatically when you receive a new message

I was first introduced to QuickDot about 8 months ago. At first it was a very huge craze, but with time it got to be less and less popular. And I have my hypothesis why it lost interest. What is this? A bunch of little notes that is supposed to be better than e-mail? Let me tell you, e-mail is so much better.

QuickDots can be lengthy, but the window that you read your QuickDots from are very, very small. It is a pain to keep scrolling down to read your message. And get this.....to alert you that you have a QuickDot waiting for you, QuickDot e-mails you!! ???? QuickDots claim to get rid of the "hassles" of e-mail.

E-mail has so many advantages over QuickDot. With e-mail you can store your messages in convenient folders. With QuickDot, once you get a new Dot from a person, the old Dot is gone.

There are instances where QuickDot would be a positive thing. An example would be if an employer wanted to contact each of his/her employees for special notices or upcoming events. QuickDot allows you to reach numerous people with one simple step. But if you want to write a friend to see how they are doing or e-mail a company asking for information, use e-mail.

Overall, I would stick with e-mail, unless you are a person that has to reach a number of people with the same message.
