DEll "Thumbs up" for customer support.
Nov 27 '00
I purchased a Dell computer some 6 months ago. Recently I was unlucky enough to be infected by the Nevada.exe virus. This resulted in me not being able to open any applications. I had been a bit slack, and was having some problems with Norton Virus, so had removed it from my computer, and as things usually go, I had not had the chance to re load it. So I was feeling quite guilty and stupid. Did I panic? NO! Instead I rang Dell customer support here in Australia. Free Call and apart form the dreaded "If you want technical assistance press one" etc. It all went very smoothly.
I was connected to a technician almost immediately. He was more than helpful. He knew about the virus, even though it was very knew and he stepped me through reloading my registry of a couple days ago via DOS (the only program I could access). He also told me how to delete all signs of the virus from the computer. He also suggested I check my sent box, to ensure I had not passed the virus onto any one else.
I must say I was very impressed with this service. The technician did not belittle me, he was very patient and even though this was not a problem related to the Dell Computer I had bought, he was more than happy to help. He did have a bit of an accent which I found hard to understand, but that is the only very minor negative that I had with my experience.
I say "thumbs up" for Dells customer support.
