I actually like my Dell. It has a beautiful 19' Dell monitor, 128 RAM, 27HD, DVD and CDRW. The updates are fairly easy to accomplish because of the system tag generating update ques from the great update center in the sky.
Problems do crop up though. Customer Service reps have not helped with a problem, which I think should be easily remedied. E.i., whenever I need to reboot, the system "hangs" after going down and the Windows screen comes back up. The power switch won't do anything after repeated attempts to press it for even a reasonable amount of time. The unit must be physically unplugged before it'll turn back on. I believe it is the power button which is faulty. After about five phone calls and numerous hours trying to get this fixed, I'm "starting" to get the runaround.
They believe the AT&T @Home Cable Technician did something that made this problem arise. I told Dell this was the timeframe I started having problems. So of course, they ASSUME that's the reason it doesn't work.
My friend also has a Dell and his modem fried on him. When asked if he had a lightening rod on his house and he said no, they said that voided the warranty for the modem. He'd have to replace it himself.
So now, I'm having to physically unplug my computer and re-plug it for it to work. Total bummer. Shame on Dell. To top it off, I bought three more for the office before this problem arose.
