Wow. Toshiba comes through with a great laptop for a great value. I'm a college student and needed something to write papers and surf the net with. I've also been selling computers since I was sixteen so I can tell you that this thing is a great machine. I got lucky and found one at CompUSA for $900. A slight caveat, the 1605 isn't for everyone. PROs
Affordable, stylish, extremely stable, good software

CONs
Only 32 megs of RAM, cheap screen

I would suggest immediately throwing some more RAM into this machine. I tossed an extra 64 megs in, bringing it up to a total of 96 mb. The screen is okay for web browsing, word processing, etc. but it is NOT meant for gaming. Since it's not an active matrix, any sort of fast motion creates color streaks until the motion stops. But, these things aside, the 1605 is a dynamite machine for the money. As a salesman, I can tell you that Toshiba has an awesome track record as far as laptops are concerned. If you're looking for a good, cheap, dependable laptop, then this is your best bet.
