I bought this card from Best Buy about 6 months ago for 49 dollars. Considering you could get the SB 512 for 20 bucks more makes this card not as good of a deal as it could be. It is only a 16 bit card. It has built in hardware processing of a few effects. One in particular is a 3D effect that is built in. It provides a semi realistic effect of surround sound. I mainly bought this card because I bought the ACS 54.2 from Altec Lansing. They are a 4 speaker set and I needed a quadraphonic sound card to hook them up to achieve the best surround effect. The sound quality is above average but there is still a small amount of hissing and defects in the sound. The hissing may be coming from my speakers or interference from the other wires around it.
Still, overall the card is very good if all you want is to take full advantage of some quadraphonic speakers. The quality isn't the greatest but it will do for most users. It is actually a very good card for gaming.
