The previous machine was nothing but headaches but I will say that the customer support received from Dell for this machine was nothing short of spectacular.
The new machine is a PIII 1000mhz with a 40GB hard drive, 256MB of Rambus Ram, Windows 2000 Professional, DVD and CD/RW.
Suffice it to say, with Windows 2000, this machine is fast. The nice thing is that I can leave 10 programs on at once and the machine does not crash on me. This was not the case with the old machine or with any machine I have owned with Windows 98.
I would recommend this machine to anyone as it does not have many quirks that I can find yet. I am still getting used to 2000 but I will post updates as they occur.
When using Dell customer support, I would always recommend calling if you can. It does take more time, but the phone people keep great notes and have all the data on your system thanks to the Service Tag ID assigned to your system.
