| RhettMagic's Full Review: Hewlett Packard PhotoSmart p1000 Ink-jet Printer |
With my dad's obsession with taking a picture of anything he sees, and my ongoing school projects, my family desperately needed a GOOD color printer. Not an alright one that could pathetically push out a couple pages, or an alright one that could almost do the job ... we needed one that could print just as good (if not better) than a photo you'd get from a processor. After going through a couple other products, we set on this and have had absolutely NO problems with it whatsoever.
Now, perhaps there are some cases in which this printer wouldn't be best for you. Personally, I have two printers set up. This one, and another Panasonic Laserprinter (check out my review on that for more details). I generally use the Panasonic for black and white, and the Packard for color and photo prints.
Why do this you might ask? Is it because the Packard is bad at printing in black and white? NO. In fact, it's very good at printing black and white. But what you have to keep in mind, is that the Packard is meant to be used for color photos and presentations mainly. Thus, it has a rather large color cartridge and a smaller black ink cartridge.
The result? If you try doing an office project on this printer, such as printing up 100 memos, you're going to run out of black ink. Plain and simple, it wouldn't be a good idea. However, say you want to print out fifty pages of beautiful photo sheets ... then this IS the printer you're looking for.
So to avoid 'hating this printer cause it can't print a bunch of black and whites' simply get another printer, (I suggest the Panasonic I reviewed) that's a laserjet that can easily pop out a bunch of sheets at a time. This way, you'll cut your ink cartridge cost in half and get the copies out twice as fast.
Now, onto more stuff I love about this printer! Not only does it print beautifully, but any problems with it are incredibly easy to fix! This is truly a first for me with printers. Where you usually have to blindly bound around the inside of one, pushing button after button with no results, this one leaves no hassle. It has a small display screen which tells you exactly what's wrong, but not only does it tell you what's wrong ... it tells you how to fix it! What more could you possibly want? (other than for it to fix itself).
By now, you should've already left your computer and bought this printer, but you're obviously still here ... so now I ask, WHY ARE YOU HERE???? GO BUY THIS PRINTER, IT WILL BE ONE OF THE BEST INVESTMENTS YOU'LL EVER MAKE!!!
