With a title like that from me, if you have read any of my previous posts, you know, they have to be good. Let me start off by saying that I have a lot of experience with the various computer manufacturers. We use everything from IBMs, Dells, Compaqs, and Toshiba to generic PCs. Without a doubt, Compaq blows away all the others.

We use three different Compaq servers as well as several workstations and laptops. I have experience with the Proliant models 1600 and 5500, Prosignia 200 and several models of the Deskpro and Laptops. Compaq has to be the most responsive to any question. I will review each aspect of their customer service.

AVAILABILITY
Compaq has a 24 hour tech support department that seems to always be happy to oblige any request. I have never had an experience when I was unable to reach someone at Compaq. This definitely can not be said of most of the other computer manufacturers.

QUEUE TIME
This one goes hand in hand with availability. I don't believe I have ever had to wait for over 1 minute before reaching a person once I have navigated through the menu system. Most of the time, the wait in the queue is actually only about 15 seconds or so. This is outstanding for any company, especially a large corporation.

QUALITY
The techs available when you call their tech support are thoroughly versed in their products. Sometimes they do need to refer to additional materials when asked an obscure question but most really know their stuff. If you call general customer service, they are very prompt in getting you to the appropriate party to handle your concern. They really seem to take pride in taking care of your situation quickly.

KNOWLEDGE
Their techs not only are able to give you prompt information but accurate information. They have the knowledge of their product down pat. They also seem to have attained the knowledge that just because you have a question does not mean you are stupid. I have never been talked down to by a tech or service rep at Compaq. I have also had relative novices call with questions about their workstations and the techs are very thorough without being demeaning.

All in all the Compaq support staff is outstanding. They know their stuff, will answer your questions and don't make you wait all day for information. Through routine maintenance with the Rompaqs and Softpaqs that Compaq puts out to keep the computers up to date, we have yet to experience major difficulties with any of our Compaq Servers. They are definitely number one in my book for the combination of quality product, Price and Support! If you are looking for a Server or workstation or even a home pc, I would definitely recommend Compaq.
