I got the 1800XL from Compaq after my 1900T bit the dust, that's another review on this web site, and I hated it. Yeah, the screen's big but the ergonomics are absolutely terrible, it had one of those Celeron processors and it was all stop and go and overall very slow. The unit was overly heavy and so large it did not fit in standard carry bags making portability not it's strong point, yet why would you buy a "portable"?. The touch pad is directly under the right thumb and I was constantly hitting it accidentally while typing. The key board is flimsy and not in the least bit smooth, you never feel as if you hit the keys hard enough or light enough. The battery would only keep the unit going for about 2 hours, (the 1900T would last at least 3, when it would charge). The tech support at Compaq was absolutely horrendous over the course of my dealings with this computer and the one it replaced. And last but certainly not least, it's ugly, I mean you do have to look at it! If I could have gotten my money back for the original purchase of the 1900 I would have certainly not gotten this one.
