| Meso's Full Review: Asus AGP-V3800 |
The Asus V-3800 tnt2(m64) is a great card for the price. I am currently using it with an Athlon 550, and 64mb of ram. Although it is the lower end in the tnt2 series, i am impressed with it's ability to handle high end games. Using a 3D Marks 2000 (a benchmarking program) It ran at about 58 frames per second on a 3d shooter demo and 49 frames per second on a flight sim demo. With the kind of graphics 3d marks was using, i was very impressed with these frame rates.
The 32 bit color also makes a big difference in my eyes. In quake3 the clouds are blended beautifully compared to my older voodoo2 12mb. Using the V-3800 it looks like fog where as on the voodoo2 it look kind of blocky and the color blending was bad (because it didn't support 32 bit color). Also the V-3800 scored 700 more 3D points the the voodoo2.
If you really like all those 3D games but just don't have the cash to shell out to buy a viper v770 or something, pick this card up. It is a bargain for the power you get from it.
