The Spotted Milk Cow-Gateway
Apr 09 '00
I bought my Gateway computer last August, 99. I use it quite a bit, both on the internet and in a small home business. The computer works fine most of the time. I haven't had to call for the home service I bought, at least not yet. Several times, though, I have had to call for tech help on their toll free tech line. I paid for free help and I usually get it ok. Sometimes it takes a while to get through to someone, and it always takes a while to navigate their computerized phone system, but when I get a tech advisor he or she is always able to help me with any problem caused by they computer itself. If, however, you have a problem caused by some soft ware you didn't buy at their inflated prices or a piece of hardware they didn't sell you, even if the problem is with the computer accepting your product, they won't even bother to talk to you. One woman told me that she could tell me exactly what to do to straighten out my problem, but she wouldn't do so unless I took the product back to Office Depot and bought the same brand product from them at almost twice the price. The store about the cow they use as their advertising mascot is that once they get you hooked on their product, they keep "milking" you for money. There is some truth to this. I probably won't buy another Gateway product. When this one is paid for I'll look else where.
