| rangerstyle's Full Review: Ricoh 6x4x24x CD-RW (7060) |
I've done plenty of writing in my time, mostly at friends houses, and learned what brands NOT to buy and what brands to buy for myself. Brands NOT to buy...JVC, Hi-Val, ect.... Brand I chose...Ricoh, and a great choice it was.
Most of the other writers my friends used either got too hot, or wrote too slow, but the Ricoh 7060A doesn't have those problems at all. I cant say I haven't ruined any CD's (maybe 2-3 out of 50), but compared to the other brands (30 out of 50) I'd say the difference is quite apparent.
The Ricoh's 6 speed writing is only available with NON-rewritable CD's, which is kinda of a drag, but at 6X speed it'll write out a full length CD in about 11 minutes (using write-on-the-fly (WOF)...which means that the CD is writing at the same time as it's reading the original CD)
At 4X speed it'll write CD's at about 18 minutes (WOF) and at 2X speed about 34 minutes (WOF).
Ricoh supplies plenty of goodies with it's writers, it came with CD Writing software, Packet CD writing software (will explain a bit later), music writing software, and graphics software for making CD labels and inserts. Also included was 50 labels for the CD's.
Packet CD writing is one of the better qualities of the re-writing that I love. It allows you to use a CD almost the same as a floppy or hard-drive. Just drag & drop (or just copy/paste) whatever you want onto the packetwritten CD and it copies right over...and if you wanna move stuff around or whatever go ahead...it works just as easy.
Bottom line....this CD writer is great!!!!
