Of the color laser printer that I have seen, this has got to be the best. Where I currently work we have 4 of them and use them all the time. I am the one that maintains them and am glad that they went with these. When I was in the Air Force at Offutt I was the main contact for the network printers. Most the printers that we had there were HPs and a few of them were the 4500. If you are looking for a good color laser for not a lot of money this is the one you want. After working with Lexmarks, Epson, Canon and HP, I have found the HP to be the easiest to configure and work with.
You don't need this printer if you're just going to be printing out school reports, even if they have graphics, inkjets are good for that. But if you have a small business or even a large one, these printers work great on a network. In fact, they were built to be put on a network. The software that comes with it has everything you need to set it up. The great thing is that you don't need a print server to use this thing. You can setup up a JetDirect Port on your computer and print directly to it. And talk about an easy install. You can set it up on your computer in a matter of minutes. For me it takes less than two, I have been doing for 3 years so I know the shortcuts.
The image that it prints out is just awesome. Its clear and crisp and the actual color that it prints is photographic.
I have seen these as cheap as $2000 for the base model. The one with the network card goes for about $200-300 more and the DN, duplexing and networking, goes for about $500-600 more. The duplexing is a really nice feature allowing two sided printing, saving paper and cutting down on your stack of papers for your presentation.
