| jasonccusa's Full Review: Dell Inspiron 7500 G600VW |
I sell computer systems, software, and hardware and get my hands on dozens of computers. It's my business, so I often have the opportunity to test drive products even I can't afford to purchase.
When a renowned scholar at a prestigious mid-western university asked me to spec out a new notebook I went to work. The perimeters were intensive and the requirements were almost overwhelming. After 2 weeks of research I determined a Dell Inspiron 7500 was the only notebook that would meet all the requirements.
I had never purchased from Dell but I was sure of one thing...I had never had to repair a Dell for any of my clients. Good start! I speced the system out, logged on to www.dell.com, entered my requirements and got a price. I then called their sales department.
Their telephone system is cumbersome at best and down right frustrating! Menu after menu, 6 in all, count them, six, before I reached the gentleman responsible for higher education client sales! Once a real person answered the phone everything turned out perfect.
I purchased a Dell Inspiron 7500 Notebook. The model I specified included a Pentium III, 750MHz processor, 15" "Super XGA+TFT Display. It includes 8MB of video memory; I wanted a 10GB HD. We needed Windows 98, 2nd Edition, an external mouse, a 56K V.90 Fax Modem, a CD-ROM and floppy drive, and a USB Zip 250MB Drive, carrying case for international travel and an additional battery.
Within 2-1/2 weeks the model was delivered, perfect, and it was made to exact specification. I was totally astounded when I booted up this Dell notebook! The flat screen display is totally awesome, crisp, sharp, detailed and quite remarkable for a notebook! The speed was cheetah considering the 750Mhz Pentium III processor. The external mouse is such a useful feature considering the congested keyboard on a notebook that I was extremely impressed.
I do not own this Dell but I had the opportunity to use it even as I was responsible for transferring my client's files to the new machine. Is this computer worth the money? Yes! Would I buy one for my personal use? YES! Do I recommend this computer to the Epinion Community? Definitely YES!!!
