Pros:great sounds, action, fun, almost like the arcade game
Cons:addictive for those of us who don't like blood and gore
Back when the arcade was the big thing in town, I recall spending hours and a whole lot of coins on this came. I never really became very good at it, but it was always my favorite arcade games (a close tie with centipede). For years I searched arcades and PC games to find Tempest and finally about a year ago I was told it was available.
At a computer show, we found the CD and I must admit, I like the 2000 version better than the arcade game. It's not full of blood and gore like Doom and Descent but it's just as effective at relieving some of the daily stresses. There are some differences to the original arcade game but they have compensated with fantastic sound effects, music and (as Tim Allen would say) MORE POWER (grunt grunt grunt)!.
Tempest 2000 has become a family fun time, each of us trying to beat the other's scores. I guess the only downfall to Tempest 2000, is that once you sit down and star playing, you don't want to get up.
