Using the TurboTax software package to complete your Federal income taxes in a real money saver. It is a software package that completes all needed tax forms by interviewing you. When you answer the questions, TurboTax will automatically fill in the proper information into your tax forms. It also automatically do all the calculations. When you have completed the interview, TurboTax will check you forms and inform you of any errors that it encounters.

Once you completed your forms, checked and corrected and errors, you can electronically filed your taxes through TurboTax. If you do not want to electronically file your taxes, you can print out IRS approved forms and send in you forms the old fashion way by snail mail.

For many years, I have used TurboTax to complete my Federal Taxes. Last year, I decided to have a nationally recognized tax preparor do my taxes because I had to do a number of schedules that I never had to do before. Before I went to this tax preparor, I did my taxes using TurboTax. My bill from this nationally recognized preparer was almost $200. That did not include my state taxes. While the person was doing my taxes, he was using a computer, and asked me prompted questions, much like TurboTax. I was surprised to find out that the so called professional tax preparor came up with almost the exact figures that I got. We both came up with the same figure on the most important line on my Federal Tax form (MY REFUND). At that moment, I realized that TurboTax is worth more than the $29.99 (refundable) price tag.
