| jyuen1's Full Review: Dell Inspiron 7500 R500VT |
I ordered one of this before I found out that Dell's OEM (Compal) have already replace this model with a newer one. The I7000/7500 are all based on the old Compal N30i chassis. While very versatile and powerful, these laptop are thick (2.7") and heavy, with the I7500 topping the scale at 9.1lbs. The only advantage is that you can operate another device (Zip, LS-120, 2nd HD) in place of the battery in the battery bay if you are running on AC. This give you a 4 Spindle device but I don't think that's necessary for most of us. I sent mine back the day I got it.
While the Compal N30W is not available from Dell yet, it has shown up at a lot of the smaller reseller so I ordered one. A PIII 500, 15" TFT, 128MB, 10GB, 6X DVD unit comes in at 1.7" and 7.2lbs and it runs like a dream.
