In my wishes for a hefty color printer, I was mainly concerned with the price and quality. Searching through my local Sunday paper ads, I ran through several of them before seeing the price on this. I was skeptic at the low prices because I wondered how many cartridges the printer holds.
This is definitely a good printer for someone who doesn't know much about computer hardware. It's actually pretty fun like a new toy when installing it! It's soooo easy!
What makes this good at the low price is that it has one cartridge for black ink, one for blue (cyan), one for red, and one for yellow. It prints 1.5 pages per minute (ppm) and I'm not one in a hurry just to print out something. A lot of higher priced printers out there only has one cartridge for all colors. If you run out of one color, you have to replace the whole cartridge! If there is one for color and one for black, you'd still be losing money when you'd have to replace the color cart! So, replacing the specific color you need in the long run is best.
It doesn't matter to me if it's fast, if it will do it right...then I'm happy(But if it's a modem, then I'll go for cable!). I myself use it to make my own CD covers for my music projects and whatever I'd like to have in color on paper! The quality is great! The options to print how you want to print is an easy interface. It prints good on regular typing paper or photo glossy finish. I recently purchased a label maker for CD faces and various other labels and am happy with the results I got!
The only thing next is getting a good cheap scanner! This one's pretty much a steal if you're not looking to print a color comic book within 5 minutes! You can wait for a picture to print out. For the time I've had this, I haven't had any problems whether it was compatibility related, nor jamming. Grab it!!
Oh yeah, there is a $25 mail-in rebate which makes it all better! It's practically a steal!
