I always ask myself for the reasons before using a program. For money management, I'd expected a program with fast data entry, good data arrangement and being easy to use. Finally I picked this program.
Pocket Quicken has done many things that really help my life be organized. I've ever used some program of this type on both Windows CE and Palm system and found that most of them were unable to effectively organized the data. In addition, some program was so confusing, slow and nonproductive. These points are important because I don't want to spend more time on Palm than paying attention to the cashier in a shop.
Fast data entry - The Pros
At the present time, I can't live without this program. It took me only about 2-3 seconds to enter data during the job with ATM, shop or gas station. In addition, only 30 minutes were spent on learning how to use the program. All I have to do were just open the program, enter my password, choose the account and finally enter the amount of money. This program will help you on every step such as numeric keypad for password, filling the remaining characters for the name of the shop if you've ever entered before. By the way, some function such as "memorized transaction" is useful only when the same shop and account are used.
Relationship - The Cons
I think that this program has too much relationship with the desktop version. I know that the benefit was for most people who are also using Quicken on their PC. In the other word, I may be one of the minor group who use only Palm version. In fact, I really would like to use "category" and "class" to be more productive but I need desktop version to set these things up. This problem might be one of the reasons for some people not to use this program because they thought that they also need desktop version.
Organized - The Pros
This program effectively uses the area of palm's screen. There are two main screens for displaying the data; one for all account's balance so that I could get my scope with only a glance and the other for transactions of each chosen account.
Summary
A lot of money management programs were released but I've tested only some of them. By the way, I think I would stick to this program for very long time.
